Carbon Social Cycle Club Event 1 - Edinburgh to Kelso - 9 May 2015

The first Carbon Social Cycle Club ride of 2015 will set off from the Meadows in Edinburgh and follow ‘national cycle route 1’ south to Kelso. There will also be the option of a shorter less challenging route. If you didn’t receive our mailer about this, you can view it here.

The Full Route (70 miles)

The full 70 mile route takes in some amazing scenery as we first skirt past Arthurs Seat on the old Innocent Railway line to Dalkeith then head south on quiet country roads to Innerleithen where we will stop for a well earned coffee and cake break! From Innerleithen the route meanders East alongside the River Tweed passing through Melrose, Newtown St Boswells and finally past Floors Castle and into Kelso.

Our finishing point will be the ‘The Cobbles’ pub in Kelso where we will seek ‘refreshments’ while waiting for our private hire bus to pick us (and our bikes) up and return us to Edinburgh city centre.

The route and profile (for the profile click on the button towards the top of the window) can be found here.

Please note there will be a cost of around £45 per person for the coach hire.

The ‘Gentle Run’ Option (24 miles)

If you would like to come along but do not wish to cycle the full 70 mile route – then why not join us from the Meadows to Dalkeith where you can stop for coffee and cake before turning back and following the same route back to Edinburgh.

Are you able to join us?

To help us plan, please let one of us (Stephen or Richard) know if you would like to come along, and whether you intend cycling the gentle run or the full route.

We will confirm final details nearer the date, but if you have any queries, please contact us.

Best wishes,

Stephen and Richard
