Family Business Unit Scotland has recently completed the first ever piece of research into the largest family firms in Scotland and quantified the turnover, profit before tax (PBT) and employment of the largest 100 such firms. Feedback has already been great and we are delighted with the findings. Collectively, the top 100 businesses generate £16.6 billion turnover, £1.1 billion PBT and employ over 103,000 people. These figures will certainly help to give credibility to the family business sector in Scotland. Carbon is delighted to be supporting this extensive piece of research, which clearly shows the valuable contribution the family business sector is making to the Scottish economy. This is a sector which needs to be both recognised for the excellent work done to date and supported so it can make an even greater contribution in future.
