Carbon Christmas charity cake bake

‘Tis the season for Christmas jumpers, but before jumpers came aprons.

Last week, staff across our offices rolled up their sleeves and got baking for the Carbon Christmas charity bake sale.

Our kitchens temporarily resembled an episode of the Great British Bake-Off as finance-professionals-turned-pastry-chefs laid out their tasty creations for sale or donations.

The event raised £330, doubled by Carbon to £660, and followed on from an earlier bake event back in June, which raised £180, doubled by Carbon to £360. So our bakers are obviously improving! And we are delighted to have now broken the £1,000 mark for this year.

All proceeds were spent on provisions for our local food banks, delivered directly by Tescos to the food bank centres.

A big thank you to all our enthusiastic bakers, consumers (equally enthusiastic), Moria our trusty ‘shopper’ in the Edinburgh office, Rowena in the Perth office and Tescos for their kind collaboration.

On 18th and 19th of December, we’ll be back in festive mode modelling our Christmas jumpers for a small fee to raise more funds for yet more food bank shopping.

The Trussell Trust supports a UK network of over 1,200 food bank centres. Between April 2018 and March 2019 they provided a record 1.6 million food supplies to people in crisis, a 19% increase on the previous year.
