Carbon this Movember: Miles, Moustaches and More

This November, the Carbon Team took on Movember to raise awareness and funds for men’s health. Whether growing moustaches, racking up miles, or rallying donations, the team worked hard to help contribute to our goals of over 1,200 miles moved, £500 raised and six fantastic Mo’s.

Moustache Masters

Six brave members of the Carbon Team embraced the Mo, letting their facial hair flourish throughout the month. From sleek handlebars to full-blown dad-staches, the team embraced their new looks with pride. Many found they enjoyed their moustaches so much that they’ve decided to keep them even after Movember has ended!

Miles for Movember

Thirteen other team members took a different route to support the cause, pledging to cover over 1,200 miles collectively through walking and running. Their dedication was nothing short of inspiring: by month’s end, the team had smashed their goal, covering a whopping 1,376 miles.

One standout team member, Jack Didwell, went above and beyond, clocking an incredible 190 miles solo.

Fundraising Successes

Thanks to the combined efforts of the team and their supporters, £307 has been raised so far for Movember. But the generosity doesn’t stop there: Carbon has volunteered to match all donations, helping us to exceed our £500 goal!

Why Movember Matters

Movember is not just about moustaches and miles—it’s about addressing critical issues affecting men’s health globally. Every year, men face significant health challenges that are often under-discussed and underfunded.

  • Mental Health and Suicide Prevention: Three out of four suicides are men. Movember works to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, encouraging men to talk, seek support, and access life-saving resources.
  • Prostate Cancer: Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men, with one in eight men being diagnosed in their lifetime. Funds raised through Movember go toward early detection initiatives, research into better treatments, and support systems for those affected.
  • Testicular Cancer: While testicular cancer often affects younger men, the impact is lifelong. Movember funds research to improve outcomes and provide support to men dealing with this diagnosis.

As the staches are shaved—or proudly kept—and the miles tallied, the team reflects on a month well spent. Movember may be over, but Carbon’s commitment to supporting health and well-being continues year-round.

Here’s to making strides, one Mo or mile at a time.
