Championing Diversity | International Women's Day at Carbon - Daria Dolecka

International Women’s Day is one of the largest employee engagement events in the world today. Many leaders, employees, customers, students, and community stakeholders worldwide seek to live in a world where women, are treated equally, enjoy opportunities of leadership, and can receive equal rights, opportunities, and access.

As a people focused organisation and an employer of several women in key roles, Carbon is using the opportunity of International Women’s Day 2022 to celebrate the achievements of our team, showcase their talents and help #breakthebias in the finance industry.

In this edition of our International Women’s Day series, we speak to Daria Dolecka, who is part of the client services team, about her role, her achievements and inspiration.

What does your role involve?

I joined the client services team in September 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic and my role is to deal with day-to-day client enquiries along with the rest of my team.

What do you enjoy about your job?

Every day is completely different and opportunities to learn something new are always arising. I also particularly enjoy the client interaction as I’m a people person and I get a lot of satisfaction from that aspect of the role.

Can you tell us about something you are particularly proud of?

I’ve taken the plunge and made plans to travel solo this year which is something I’ve never done before! I’m planning on going to Sicily as my first trip alone which will be really exiting as I will have the freedom to do as I choose and create my own memories.

Tell us about a woman you know who inspires you

My mum is a source of inspiration to me; she raised my sister and I as a young single mother which would have been challenging but she has always been incredibly supportive and encouraging to us.

How did you get into the financial planning industry?

Financial services has always been an industry that I’ve been interested in from a young age as I had previously completed an internship with Blackrock

Why would you encourage other women to join the industry?

From my perspective, I’ve only ever had great experiences working in this industry, so I would encourage anyone to explore options in financial planning. It’s great to have such a diverse team as men and women can learn a lot from each other when working together.
