Sunshine on Leith for Carbon Social Cycle Club

At last the sun shone and the wind abated for the first weekend of spring, making for a great morning’s cycle for the Carbon Social Cycle Club last Sunday.

Covering a little under 30 miles, the team took the cycle path and Innocent Railway south towards Dalkeith, before getting lost and inadvertently enjoying a cruise downhill into Musselburgh for some much needed coffee and cake!

From Musselburgh, they worked their way back up the coast along the prom at Portobello, dodging prams, small children and other animals, before skirting Leith and returning to the West End via the old railway track.

For those wondering what the Carbon Social Cycle Club is, and why it has been set up, Carbon Financial Planners Stephen and Richard wanted to give people a group to cycle with every month, and provide company to those looking to sign up for cycling events.

Setting off from the Carbon Edinburgh office once a month, it is not just restricted to clients or contacts of Carbon’s; friends, and friends of friends are also welcome. It is not a ‘hardcore’ cycle club, but one where no one is left behind, and where there is always a coffee and cake stop!

The next Carbon Social Cycle Club outing will be on Sunday 20th April, and if anyone wants to join the club and go along for modest miles at a relaxed pace, or has any suggestions for cycle routes for the club, please get in touch with Stephen at stephen.rowntree@carbonfinancial.co.uk or Richard at richard.wadsworth@carbonfinancial.co.uk.

One route that some of the club will be undertaking is the challenge of cycling between all four of Carbon’s offices to raise money for The Aberlour Child Care Trust.

Taking place on the weekend of 23rd to 25th May 2014, the challenge will begin in Aberdeen, before cycling to Perth, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, covering well over 200 miles in three days.
