THE Blairgowrie Golf Club was one of legendary rugby commentator Bill McLaren’s favourite courses.
This week the Rosemount Course where “The Voice of Rugby” enjoyed “A Round With Alliss” - featuring a mix of golf and chat with fellow broadcaster Peter - hosted a fundraiser in aid of the Foundation created in his memory in 2010.
Daughter and trustee Linda Lawson told guests, who included eight former international rugby stars, that fundraisers like the 13th annual golf day sponsored by Carbon Financial had helped the Bill McLaren Foundation distribute grants totalling £1.5 million to support rugby union and its values at home and abroad.
“Carbon Financial and the Blairgowrie Golf Club have been great supporters of the Foundation since we started out on the journey and given my father’s fondness for Rosemount it is fitting that this charity golf day should be played here,” she said.
The prize giving was hosted by Scotland and British Lions captain Gavin Hastings.
